Family Caregiver Workshops

Family Caregiver Workshops are designed to increase family member's knowledge of basic caregiving topics and to introduce them to basic caregiving skills needed to care for an older adult in the home. Time is allotted for lecture, hands-on demonstrations, and individual questions. Information on caregiver resources is also provided. Physical Skills

Taking care of your orwn physical needs is often difficult enough, but helping to take care of the needs of someone else can be even more challenging. It is important for family caregivers to learn special strategies to help them provide assistance to loved ones in both an efficient and safe manner. This program presents an overview of information on caregiving for anyone helping to provide unpaid care for an older adult at home.

Caring for the Person with Dementia

Caring for a loved one with dementia poses many challenges for families and caregivers. Without proper understanding of the disease, it is very easy for family members to give way to feelings of frustration which often leads to burn out. This program equips family caregivers with the knowledge and information they need to assist a loved one suffering from Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory disorders.
